Our Part in the Boulder City Story…
At Boulder Vintage, we are proud of being part of the amazing diverse experience Boulder City offers today. Boulder City’s invitation to “Discover, Explore and Unwind” in the town that is “Minutes Away and a World Apart” from Las Vegas does not disappoint our visitors. There are unique eateries and bars, boutiques, outdoor adventure opportunities, historic places to stay, museums, public artscape, and many popular annual events.
We, at Boulder Vintage, take particular pride in having helped Boulder City to become renowned as “ Nevada’s Best Small Town for Antiquing”, as proclaimed by Country Living, House Beautiful, and Only In Your State magazines. 25 years ago, we opened as Back in Thyme Antiques, in the best location in town. From that cozy space, we expanded across the street to a much larger building, naming that location Antique Depot.
Boulder City’s beautiful downtown shady parks inspired us to start an annual spring event we called “Antiques in the Park”, balancing the well-established “Art in the Park” held in the fall. I took on publishing a regional guide to antiquing and other specialty shopping, The Country Register of Southern Nevada, in order to promote my own stores, the antique show, Boulder City, and the antiques stores in Las Vegas in order to build a cooperative advertising network with them. It wasn’t long before all the vacant storefronts in the downtown district were occupied, and the new businesses were staying beyond their leases. With a handy map guide on the back page of The Country Register that enabled visitors to find stores beyond the main street, we swelled to 11 antique and vintage stores, and the town became an antiquing destination.
With so many more visitors, we needed more eateries to feed them, and in a few short years, we had established a vibrant downtown business community that exceeded expectations and became a popular escape from the hustle of Las Vegas, instead of just a stop for gas and drinks on the way to see Hoover Dam. With the town’s unique history of origin (it was established to house the workers who built the Hoover (Boulder) Dam), and the retro style of the downtown, the stage was set for the Boulder City Experience to evolve to what we offer today.

Back in Thyme’s original specialty categories of children’s vintage pedal cars and authentic Native American jewelry, garnered regional attention in publications and even national attention on the HISTORY Channel, bringing even more awareness, attention, and visitors to Boulder City. The Chamber of Commerce took on the Antiques in the Park event as a permanent feature of the Boulder City Spring Jamboree, and featured my colorful Pedal Car Show & Sale at the top of the park for several years.
In 2020, the opportunity came up to purchase the huge American Legion building next to Boulder Bowl. With the move, I renamed the store to Boulder Vintage. We retain the Back in Thyme Pedal Car Collection and still showcase an incomparable inventory of old authentic Native American jewelry (Old Pawn quality), and the larger venue has allowed us to enjoy expanding the vintage boutique aspect of the store.
